2011 — Del Mar, CA

Rescue Dogs have been showcased in the Rescue Gallery since 2006.  Click on “General Information” for more details.   Two dogs — Tapper Dowler/Roos and Becca Deering — have been in all 6 Rescue Galleries since the beginning.  Unfortunately, Becca died in February 2011.

This year, 28 families tell the story of 39 dogs. Click on the individual dog names in the column to the right to see their stories and pictures.

This year several dogs were put down for temperament issues.  I’ve lived with a biting dog, too.  What difficult management issues the families have faced.  There are stories of fearful, shy, quirky dogs, yet also many stories of recovery and achievements both large and small.

This year we are honoring several dogs that have died.

Sadly, Patti Johnson – passionate rescue worker and Rescue Gallery entrant – has died.  We miss her.

At the Del Mar, CA specialty, the owners can be identified by their pins - a Berner holding a star with their dog’s name. The dogs have yellow bandanas.

A printed booklet containing all these stories is available at 2011 Ways and Means or by contacting Nell Ward.

Please welcome these families and their dogs.
