Murphy was rescued from a puppy mill by an angel from BARC when he was 7 mos. old. Because there was a raccoon in his pen the day before he was rescued, the Department of Agriculture required that he be quarantined for 6 months due to the risk of rabies exposure. Lucky boy, he was fostered for those 6 months by Nicole Hadley, who taught him his house manners and loved him.

On April 24, 2009 Murphy came to his forever home. He fit in immediately and made himself right at home. He is a very loving, cuddly and goofy boy. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t make me laugh out loud. I feel so blessed to be his mom.

We have been doing obedience training and he has earned his Rally Novice title. Murphy and I decided to try drafting and he turned out to be a natural! It took only 15 minutes from the time I put his harness on for the first time, until he was hitched up to the cart and pulling. We have also been practicing herding. Our goal is to get Novice Draft Dog and Junior Herding titles and maybe a Triathlete award here at the specialty in Loveland this year.

I look forward to a long and active life with my Murphy-man.
